Music, Dance: Cat Power, Zoetic’s “SAINT”

Former Cabbagetown resident Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) returns to Atlanta on Monday evening for a concert at Variety Playhouse to celebrate the 30th anniversary of A Cappella Books. The show will benefit Common Good Atlanta, which provides education programs for the incarcerated and their families. Cat Power will be joined by two other groups associated with the Cabbagetown sound: W8ing4UFOs and FLAP.

Zoetic Dance presents SAINT, a new work choreographed by artistic director Mallory Baxley, with an original score by Xavier “Xay Zoleil” Lewis. The work premieres at 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday (December 14) at Ambient + Studio, and is described as a hymn for the modern woman. The all-female contemporary dance company was formed in 2001.
