Remixing music on the Web with Atlanta composer Jason Freeman

By

Atlanta composer Jason Freeman, who teaches at Georgia Tech and is executive director of the new-music ensemble Sonic Generator, has published an essay called “Compose Your Own” on The New York Times’ composers blog The Score.

The above image is the complete score to Freeman’s Piano Etudes. He explains: “As a composer, I want my audiences to experience creating music. In my work, I blur the traditional divisions between composer, performer and listener, inviting others to make the music along with me. It is not enough for me to share only a polished performance or a mastered audio recording. I want to share the experience of composing music ….”
