Your Source For The Arts In Atlanta

Dad’s Garage Theatre Company will stream the award-winning The Magic Negro and Other Blackness at 8 tonight (June 18) to support Black Lives Matter. Throughout the night and the next week, Dad’s will be raising funds in support of Black Lives Matter. The one-man show by Mark Kendall uses sketch comedy, improv and character pieces to examine media representations of black men, from prison to white flight, and Aunt Jemima to Black Jesus. Kendall explores the ways in which these images influence our views on race in everyday life. See it on Dad’s channel. Free. Donations encouraged.

The Plaza Theatre and Dad’s Garage pop-up drive-ins will screen two more movies this weekend (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and two showings of The Princess Bride have sold out). The remaining lineup: The Evil Dead at 9 p.m. Friday at the Plaza and Destroy All Monsters at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Dad’s. $15–$50 depending on car’s occupancy.

In times like these when we are separated by necessity, ArtsATL is needed more than ever. Please consider a donation so we can continue to highlight Atlanta’s creative community in this unprecedented time.
