Your Guide To The Arts In Atlanta

MOCA GA is calling all Georgia artists for the fourth installment of its biennial exhibition Gathered IV: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists. The deadline for submissions is midnight Sunday. Artists selected will be notified by email on March 22.

Gathered IV opens with a reception on April 19 and runs through June 15 at the museum on Bennett Street in Buckhead. Artists must pay a nonrefundable $30 fee to submit. Awards of up to $5,000 in cash are available.

The biennial is accepting any and all media and works in sizes ranging from small scale (a few inches) up 10 feet tall. There is a 150-pound limit for wall-hung works and a 300-pound limit for sculptures. Artists must be 18 or older and living in Georgia to submit. Applicants are asked to submit five images or links to five pieces that best represent their work. Complete submission details are available HERE.

The inaugural biennial in 2013 featured work by 60 artists; the 2015 exhibition showed work by 77 artists. For the 2017 biennial, the jurors chose to show more work by fewer artists, selecting 36 participants from more than 356 entries. Every jury works a bit differently. Selections for Gathered IV will be chosen by multimedia artists Kevin Cole and Lisa Tuttle and by sculptor/collagist Mario Petrirena.
