Nominations for the third annual ArtsATL Luminary Awards are now being accepted.
The Luminary Awards celebrate the social impact, diversity, innovation, leadership and generosity of Atlanta’s creative community.
The five awards will be the following:
Arts Education — An arts educator or education program that creates real impact on students and communities.
Outstanding Leadership — An organization or individual whose lasting guidance has cultivated and maintained the arts community in Atlanta.
Philanthropic Legacy — Celebrating a lifetime of giving support to the arts in Atlanta.
Community Engagement — An organization or individual that has created social change through the arts.
Arts Innovation — The use of technology to reimagine the creation or distribution of art.
“This year, the one big change is the addition of the Arts Education Award,” says ArtsATL publisher Van Jensen. “As the son and grandson of arts teachers, I know full well how much of a difference a great teacher makes in a life. I hope that this award serves as some small recognition for the incredible teachers in this city and the impacts they’re making.”
The deadline for nominations is September 1, and they can be submitted through this link. All nominees will be considered by the Luminary selection committee, and winners will be announced at the Luminary Awards ceremony on January 27 at City Winery.
The selection committee includes Bob Edge, Doug Shipman, Ivan Pulinkala, Danielle Deadwyler, Tomer Zvulun, Susan Bridges, Alice Neuhauser, Kate Whitman, Karen Paty and Monica Campana.
The achievements of the 2019 Luminary Award winners will be showcased at the ceremony, and profiles (along with video features) of the honorees will be published on ArtsATL following the event.
