Local guitar hero Glenn Phillips performs with his band at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 14, at the Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth to promote a new album, a concert DVD and the recent release of his autobiography, Echoes. The book covers the founding of Atlanta’s first great rock group, The Hampton Grease Band, and Phillips’ 50-year journey as a working musician.

Lonnie Holley performs at 7:30 p.m. Monday on a bill with Tinariwen, a group that rose out of the Saharan desert, at Variety Playhouse. Holley, an acclaimed visual artist who has branched into music, released his third album, titled MITH, last year.
