This year I gained a deeper understanding of the gift of painting. It is more than an ability. It has given me purpose in the midst of crisis, provided for my family and has taught me to care for myself by caring for the gift.
Painting remained constant in a year of uncertainty. Painting dictated how I would live as I prepared back-to-back solo exhibitions and continued my work as teaching artist.
Painting has created a space for gratitude and reflection. It reminded me that beauty, friendship, celebration, respect, integrity, devotion, healing, peace, forgiveness and joy endure.
