Your Source For The Arts In Atlanta

The Georgia Incarceration Performance Project will present “By Our Hands” at 7:30 p.m. February 8 and 15 and at 2:30 p.m. February 9 and 16 in the Baldwin Burroughs Theatre at Spelman College. The shows — a collaboration by Spelman, the University of Georgia, librarians, archivists, students, professional artists, incarcerated contributors and community partners — will focus on pieces that reflect archival research on the history of incarceration and convict labor in Georgia.

Amanda Shires has reached prominence as a member of husband Jason Isabel’s road band, but don’t forget that she was the Americana Association’s 2017 Emerging Artist award winner for her own music. Her latest album, To the Sunset, was produced by hot Nashville producer (and Atlanta native) Dave Cobb. Shires performs at 8 p.m. Sunday at Variety Playhouse.
