Atlanta sculptor and multimedia artist Sonya Yong James’ first solo exhibition at Whitespace opens Friday and is titled Loud Magic. “The exhibit,” says James, “is about the history of place and time and myself inside of it.” She’s known for using unconventional material, including sheep’s wool and horsehair. Friday’s reception begins at 7 p.m. Through October 19.
Uncloaked, an immersive installation by Atlanta artist Elyse Defoor at Thomas Deans Fine Art, unites four bodies of her work, all exploring memory, self-discovery and growth. Opening reception at 6 p.m. Friday. Through October 4.
Scenes, a photography series by Atlanta photographer and installation artist Dorothy O’Connor, opens tonight at MOCA GA.
