It’s one of the largest free jazz fests in the country, and for decades the Atlanta Jazz Festival has brought some of the most interesting jazz and jazz-inflected acts to the city. This year was no exception. ArtsATL commissioned photographer Terence Rushin to capture the high points with an eye toward photography as a creative art form. Make it an art project, we told him. And he did.

An Atlanta native, photographer Terence Rushin (@photorushin) has captured vivid, adrenaline-fused images for more than a decade. He specializes in concert and festival imagery and has photographed countless music acts, among them Outkast, Taylor Swift, Elton John and Janelle Monáe.
