Your Guide To The Arts In Atlanta

Welcome to the second week of our new column on the best in Atlanta street art. Today’s focus: Kevin Bongang and a mural added March 9 to the Buckhead portion of the Atlanta Street Art Map.

THE ARTIST:

Bongang was born in Cameroon in West Africa, majored in illustration at SCAD Atlanta, lived here for a decade and now lives in Nashville. He’s been doing street art for nine years. See more of his work on Instagram.

SIGNATURE STYLE:

Bold colors, swirling lines and out-there imagery, usually done freehand — he likes viewers to see something new every time they look at one of his murals, he says.

SEE FOR YOURSELF:

The spotlighted mural, titled Love, Live … Life at 1776, is at 1776 Peachtree St. NW, a seven-floor office development in south Buckhead. Directions HERE.

MATERIALS USED:

Spray paint — he prefers the Montana brand and exterior house paint for the background.

COMMERCIAL CLIENTS:

Bucketfeet footwear (artist-designed shoes), Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee, Xfinity/Comcast and Mailchimp, among others.
