Dad’s Garage Theatre Company will stream its award-winning 2018 comedy Black Nerd at 8 p.m. Friday on its Twitch.tv channel. The piece, written by Jon Carr before he became Dad’s artistic director, digs into the challenges of being a black man who’s into comics and sci-fi. It’s part of the “Dad’s Garage Social Distancing Spectacular” fundraiser. Free. Donations graciously accepted.
At 8 p.m. Saturday, Dad’s Garage will stream The Revengence, a two-actor show that begins with a couple of bad-ass cops before it starts twisting and turning. Actors Kevin Gillese and Dan Triandiflou, playing some 30 characters, go from being cops to being lost at sea to being characters in a tale about a boy who receives a toy robot for his birthday. Expect epic fight scenes, montages and maybe a little John Malkovich. Also on the Dad’s Twitch.tv channel and part of the “Dad’s Garage Social Distancing Spectacular” fundraiser. Free. Donations graciously accepted.
If you want to look ahead to next season, when we might actually be able to see a show . . . in a theater . . . with other people, you might want to visit the Actor’s Express Facebook page at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Artistic director Freddie Ashley will talk about the company’s 33rd season (announced this week) and will take questions. Questions can be emailed in advance or asked during the livestream.
In times like these when we are separated by necessity, ArtsATL is needed more than ever. Please consider a donation so we can continue to highlight Atlanta’s creative community in this unprecedented time.
