Catherine Fox, ArtsATL’s executive director and editor, has received the 2013 Community Impact Administrator Arts Award from the Emory College Center for Creativity & Arts.

In a ceremony at the Creativity & Arts Soiree on Friday, Leslie Taylor, the center’s executive director, praised Fox’s “vision and persistence in demanding that Atlanta deserves intelligent and accessible arts coverage. Cathy’s vision, initiative and dedication are exemplary, nay heroic! The importance of the site to the Atlanta arts community cannot be overstated. ArtsATL not only keeps audience members engaged in the vibrant Atlanta arts community, but the arts criticism serves the important role of keeping our arts organizations accountable, fresh and innovative.”

Says Fox, “I’m grateful to receive this award and for the recognition that ArtsATL plays an important role in keeping Atlanta’s arts communities vibrant and strong.”

The awards program, now in its fourth year, also recognized Marium Khalid, a founder of Saiah, and Neda Abghari’s Creatives Project, as well as Emory faculty and staff members, students and alumni. For more information on these and the other honorees, click here.

Past winners of the administrator award are Daren Wang, executive director of the Decatur Book Festival, and Chris Appleton, executive director of WonderRoot.
