The Virtual Arts Series, launched months ago by Flux Projects, spotlights work by Atlanta-based artists from a variety of disciplines. The art and artists will be featured on the studio windows of Core Dance’s Decatur headquarters beginning at 7 tonight (September 4) and continuing weekends throughout the month.
Flux launched the initiative in the midst of Covid-19 to give metro artists a virtual venue for their work. The films will be projected at the front of the Core studio, 133 Sycamore St., on the Decatur Square and be viewable to all passersby. The streaming allows for outdoor, socially distanced viewing. The installations are part of Core’s REEL ART series.
“An important part of Core Dance is to create broadly accessible work,” says Sue Schroeder, Core’s artistic director and cofounder. “REEL ART and this partnership with Flux Projects feels really satisfying.”
The exhibition will feature works by writer Anne Corbitt, visual artist William Downs, musician Okorie “OkCello” Johnson, Komansé Dance Theater, the content creators at Meptik, visual artists Kirstin Mitchell and Sara Santamaria, and artists and filmmakers Micah and Whitney Stansell.
In times like these, when we are separated by necessity, ArtsATL is needed more than ever. Please consider a donation so we can continue to highlight Atlanta’s creative community.
