Gear up Saturday for another Apache Café open mic with Sebastian Francis of So Soul Productions. Poets, singers, comedians and all artists in between are invited to come read and share their stories. It’s also a great opportunity to network, interact and learn from other young spoken word and literary performance artists.

Charis Books and More. Black Writers Weekend Lit Crawl. 11 a.m.

Stop by Charis Books and More this Saturday as it hosts author Q&As and book signings as a participating venue in the Black Writers Weekend #LitCrawl. Prolific local authors such as Breanna McDaniel, Denene Millner, Karen Strong, Tara Coyt and N.D. Jones will be on hand in back-to-back events from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

FoxTale Book Shoppe. Creative Writing Boot Camp. 12:30 p.m.

FoxTale Book Shoppe is calling all writers, regardless of skill level, to join in a three-hour creative writing workshop this Saturday. Whether you’re looking to breathe new life back into an old piece or find the inspiration to create something entirely magical and new, FoxTale is here to write along with you.


Wrecking Bar Brewpub. Brian Panowich | Writers at the Wrecking Bar. 7 p.m.

For this month’s Writers at the Wrecking Bar at Wrecking Bar Brewpub, Georgia native Brian Panowich joins Chuck Reece of The Bitter Southerner in conversation about his new novel, Like Lions. Like Lions is the tale of a small-town Georgia sheriff caught up in a world of perilous secrets. They’ll be joined by musical guest Mudcat for a night of music and literary discussion, complete with special cocktails curated to complement the gritty, down-south story.


FoxTale Book Shoppe. Mary Alice Monroe | The Summer Guests. 6:30 p.m.

Mary Alice Monroe, the New York Times bestselling author of the Beach House series, is back with a new novel set in a scene forebodingly familiar to many of us — Southern hurricane season. Join Monroe at FoxTale this Wednesday for a discussion and signing of her book, a heartwarming tale about the persistence of happiness and love, even through the most difficult of adversities.
