Arts Agenda: Comedy

Each week, ArtsATL delivers a critic’s short list of the shows, exhibitions, concerts and events we recommend for the coming weeks within one area in the kaleidoscope of Atlanta arts and culture. This week, we offer a look at a few of the biggest comedy shows of the spring. Many of the venues below offer a large roster of comedy shows, including The Punchline, Helium Comedy Club, Atlanta Comedy Theater, City Winery, Dad’s Garage and even Symphony Hall.

July 7

Comedian, actor and podcaster Bert Kreischer’s career has evolved from being Rolling Stone magazine’s “Number One Partier in the Nation” to one of the top-grossing stand-up comics in the business. He’ll be at the Punchline at 8 p.m. on July 7 for a taping for his Netflix show — Free Bert.

July 9

Southern storyteller Landon Bryant, known as “Landon Talks,” is coming to Atlanta to discuss everything from mules to vegetables while unpacking phrases like “take to the bed,” “I’d have to feel better to die” and his personal story of going to school at Walmart High. Catch him at The Punchline at 7:30 p.m. on July 9.

July 17-18

Tommy Davidson’s exceptional range — from stand-up comedy and acting to versatile music accomplishments — has earned him a reputation as an extraordinary performer who delivers no matter the arena. He’s best known as one of the stars of the hit television show In Living Color. See him at City Winery at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on July 17 and July 18.

Mississippi native Karlous Miller grew up in a large blended family with eight siblings, who all became major influences on his edgy, boisterous comedy style. After working briefly as a firefighter in Oxford, he moved to Atlanta in 2005 to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. He’ll be at Helium Comedy Club at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. July 17; 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. July 18; and 7 p.m. July 19.

August 7-9

Carlos Mencia has gone back to his comedic roots on his Liberated comedy tour, sharing his newest material with smaller, more intimate audiences, and has a residency twice-weekly at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in Las Vegas as part of the “Stars of Comedy” series. See him at The Punchline at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. August 7; 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. August 8; and 7 p.m. August 9.

Using his experiences growing up in Newark, New Jersey, Bill Bellamy started doing stand-up while he was a student at Rutgers University. Less than two years after launching his stand-up career, Bellamy earned a spot on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. He’ll be at Helium Comedy Club at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. August 7; 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. August 8; and 7 p.m. August 9.

August 14-16

A regular on the Sydney, Australia, comedy circuit, Jenny Tian’s debut solo show, Picture This, sold out to audiences up and down the East Coast of Australia and was released as a YouTube special, where it has nearly a million views. Her second hour, Chinese Australian: A Tale of Internet Fame, sold out across Australia and took her to her first-ever runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and West End’s Boulevard Theatre, also selling out both. She was also a cast member in season 2 of Taskmaster Australia. See her at Helium Comedy Club at 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. August 14; 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. August 15; and 7:30 p.m. August 16.

August 21-23

Sabrina Wu is a New York-based actor, writer and stand-up comedian. They made their feature film debut in Joy Ride and guest-starred in Abbott Elementary. Wu was a writer on the critically acclaimed FX limited series Dying for Sex. Wu will perform at Helium Comedy Club at 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. August 21; 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on August 22; and 7:30 p.m. on August 23.

T.K. Kirkland is a businessman, comedian and podcast host who grew up on the streets of Compton, California. His first taste of stardom came touring with N.W.A. Since then, he’s been known as the “Gangsta of Comedy” and has shared the stage with Eminem, Jay-Z, Keyshia Cole, Lil’ Wayne and more. See him at Atlanta Comedy Theater in Norcross at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. August 21 and 22; and 7 p.m. August 23.

August 27-29

John Heffron is a comedic powerhouse known for his clean-ish, observational humor that captures the hilarity of everyday life. His comedy journey began in college, and, since then, he has made a name for himself with his appearances on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” where he emerged as a fan favorite and winner. His comedy specials on Netflix and Comedy Central have further solidified his reputation as one of the top comedians in the country. He’ll be at The Punchline at 8 p.m. August 27; 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. August 28; and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. August 29.

September 4-6

Sommore reigns as the undisputed “Queen of Comedy” and is widely considered one of America’s top funny women. She is frank and fearless in her routines, tackling topics that range from the mundane to the controversial with wit, intelligence and style. She’ll perform at Helium Comedy Club at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. September 4; 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. September 5; and 7 p.m. September 6.

September 10-13

Known for his fearless honesty and politically savvy perspective, DL Hughley remains one of the most respected stand-up comedians working today. He’s built an extraordinary career across television, film, radio and publishing. He starred in the hit sitcom The Hughleys, was part of The Original Kings of Comedy and has hosted shows on Comedy Central and major networks. He’ll be at City Winery at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. September 10 through September 13

September 11-12

Steve-O went from Jackass to bestselling author and stand-up comedian. Now he’s hitting the road with his all-new Crash & Burn Tour — a one-of-a-kind comedy show packed with wildly inappropriate humor and true stories, with exclusive never-before-seen footage. Catch him at Helium Comedy Club at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. September 11; and 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. September 12.

September 12

Patrick​ Warburton has come to stand-up comedy as one of TV’s most beloved actors. He played Puddy on Seinfeld​, starred on the hit shows​ Rules of Engagement and Less Than Perfect ​and voices Joe on Family Guy. He’s coming to Variety Playhouse at 8 p.m. on September 12.

September 24-27

Shuler King was born Frank Williams III in Sumter, South Carolina. When he isn’t on the road performing at comedy clubs and special events across the country, King works as a licensed funeral director and embalmer at his family’s funeral business. See him at Atlanta Comedy Club in Norcross at 7 p.m. September 24, September 25 and September 27 and 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. September 26.

October 25

Robby Hoffman is an Emmy-winning writer and Emmy-nominated actor and comedian whose work spans stand-up, television and podcasting. In 2025, she was named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch” and her debut Netflix stand-up special, Robby Hoffman: Wake Up, premiered. She also starred opposite Michelle Williams in FX’s critically acclaimed limited series Dying for Sex and HBO’s Hacks, where she earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series.
