Arts Agenda: Comedy

Each week, ArtsATL delivers a critic’s short list of the shows, exhibitions, concerts and events we recommend for the coming weeks within one area in the kaleidoscope of Atlanta arts and culture. This week, we offer a look at a few of the biggest comedy shows of the spring. Many of the venues below offer a large roster of comedy shows, including The Punchline, Helium Comedy Club, Atlanta Comedy Theater, City Winery, Dad’s Garage and even Symphony Hall.

September 24-27

Shuler King was born Frank Williams III in Sumter, South Carolina. When he isn’t on the road performing at comedy clubs and special events across the country, King works as a licensed funeral director and embalmer at his family’s funeral business. See him at Atlanta Comedy Club in Norcross at 7 p.m. on September 24, September 25 and September 27 and at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on September 26.

September 26

Comedian, actor and podcaster Bobby Lee, probably most widely known for his long run on MadTV, comes to the Tabernacle at 7 p.m. September 26.

October 2

Chelsea Handler brings the High and Mighty tour to the Coca-Cola Roxy at 8 op.m. on October 2

October 3

Formerly of Saturday Night Live and Portlandia, Fred Armisen brings his Comedy For Musicians But Everyone Is Welcome tour to the Tabernacle at 7 p.m. on October 3.

October 9-11

Craig Ferguson is a Grammy-nominated and Peabody and Emmy Award-winning actor, writer, producer, director and comedian with a diverse career that encompasses film, television and the stage. He is a New York Times bestselling author and has recorded numerous stand-up specials for Netflix, Epix, Comedy Central and Amazon. He hosted the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS for 10 years. See him at Helium Comedy Club at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on October 9; 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on October 10; and 7 p.m. on October 11.

October 10

Kanan Gill is one of India’s most prominent stand-up comedians, widely regarded for his incisive observational humor and meticulous approach to writing. Catch his Not This Again tour at Center Stage at 7 p.m. on October 10.

October 16

Vulture calls Houston’s Ali Siddiq “stand-up comedy’s most prolific storyteller,” a skill he developed in prison, where storytelling was survival, currency and community. He’s among the top-viewed comedians on YouTube year after year. See him at 7 p.m. on October 16 at State Farm Arena

October 17

Atsuko Okatsuka, American stand-up comedian, actress and writer named one of Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch in 2022, brings the Big Bowl tour to the Tabernacle at 7 p.m. on October 17.

October 18

The Buckhead Theatre hosts Kathy Griffin’s New Face, New Tour at 7 p.m. on October 18.

October 22

Katt Williams is on the road with his official book tour for Nine Lives, No Wives, and 69 Concubines. He’ll bring along special guests for a series of nights celebrating the book and sharing some untold stories. See it at The Tabernacle at 8 p.m. on October 22.

October 23

Australian comedian and actor Josh Thomas, star and creator of the TV series Please Like Me and a contestant on the second season of Taskmaster Australia, brings his Jiggle, Jiggle tour to the Buckhead Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on October 23.

October 25

Robby Hoffman is an Emmy-winning writer and Emmy-nominated actor and comedian whose work spans stand-up, television and podcasting. In 2025, she was named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch,” and her debut Netflix stand-up special, Robby Hoffman: Wake Up, premiered. She also starred opposite Michelle Williams in FX’s critically acclaimed limited series Dying for Sex and HBO’s Hacks, where she earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. She’ll be at Variety Playhouse at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on October 25.

November 7

Charlie Berens is a comedian, New York Times bestselling author, Emmy-winning journalist, musician and creator of the Manitowoc Minute. He’ll be at Center Stage at 7 p.m. on November 7.

November 16

The current cast members of the Emmy-nominated TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? bring their new improv tour Whose Live Anyway? — Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Jeff B. Davis and Joel Murray — to the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on November 16.

November 20-22

Alonzo Bodden, who won Season 3 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and is a regular on NPR’s Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!, comes to The Punchline with shows at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on November 20; 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on November 21; and 7 p.m. on November 22.

November 27-29

Arnez J held the coveted hosting slot on BET’s longest-running comedy series, Comic View, for two seasons, joining the ranks of hosts such as D.L. Hughley and Cedric the Entertainer. His latest comedy special, Not Gonna Stop, is available to stream online. He’ll be at Helium Comedy Club at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on November 27; 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on November 28; and 7 p.m. on November 29.

December 4

Ask many comedians about their favorite comedians, and many will point to the self-deprecating and occasionally surreal comedy of Maria Bamford. See her at 7:30 p.m. on December 4 at the Buckhead Theatre.

December 10 and 11

Catch stand-up comedian and lifelong cynic Gianmarco Soresi at 7 p.m. on December 10 and December 11 at the Buckhead Theatre.

December 18

Zarna Garg is a comedy trailblazing Indian immigrant mom from New York City. She infuses humor, wit and social commentary into her comedy special for Amazon Prime, One in a Billion, and her insightful podcast, The Zarna Garg Family Show, dissecting modern family dynamics. See her at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on December 18 at the Buckhead Theatre.
