Dad’s Garage has kicked off a series of dementia caregiving workshops utilizing the tenets of improv — collaboration, communication and resiliency — to support caregivers. The theater offers two options: larger presentations and smaller workshops.

“In collaboration with Georgia GEAR, Georgia State University and Emory University, this program guides professionals in the health care field to use improv in their care for persons living with dementia,” said Marketing Director Amelia Lerner.

“Instead of working against them, improv helps you join the person and move through each moment with compassion and creativity. We’re proud of this ongoing work,” she says.

Synchronicity Theatre recently added Sophie Gordon to its staff. The Atlanta-based seamstress and costume designer accepted the role of the theater’s head of wardrobe and house manager. Producing Artistic Director Rachel May said the entire staff “extends a warm welcome” to Gordon.

“We are thrilled Sophie is joining our team. She has a unique collection of skills that makes her perfect for this hybrid position,” May told ArtsATL. She’ll ensure our costumes are well cared for during the run of our shows, while also taking care of any stitching needs our costume or scenic designers might need.”
