Theater artist Hailee Beltzhoover Zuniga’s 11 Good Things 

Every week, ArtsATL asks a member of the Atlanta arts community to share 11 things on their mind. We hope you enjoy getting to know these people better.

Hailee Beltzhoover Zuniga is an Atlanta-based theater artist and the event sales manager for the Woodruff Arts Center. She knows all great artistry starts with authenticity and fostering a positive, inclusive, collaborative workspace. 

Here, in no particular order, are her 11 good things: 

1. Midtown. I work, live and play here! Between the great food, walkability and thriving community, this is home.

2. Home cooked meals. Food is fuel and medicine. I love caring for myself and my people by preparing delicious, healthy dinners.

3. Dandelion: An Original Musical. For the past eight years, my creative team and I have been crafting this show. We just had a sold-out run in August of 2024 at Trustus Theatre in South Carolina, and big things are on the horizon in NYC later this year … Stay tuned and follow us! @dandelionmusical

4. Having a positive attitude. If you always look for the good, you’ll always find it. The opposite is true, too.

5. Virginia-Highlands Church. Coming from a small town in the Bible Belt, church hurt and hypocritical Christians are the norm. VHC has opened up a world of spirituality based in radical LOVE. My husband and I love this little community and all of its people!

6. Women in theater. This industry needs to uplift female experiences and voices. I just had the pleasure of directing an all-female cast in Shiloh Rules by Doris Baizley, also a female playwright. Let’s go girls!

7. Singing silly songs to my Frenchie, Pita.

8. Folly Beach. A small 7-and-a-half-mile-long island off of the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. I grew up in this little hippie town with my dad, my best friend and the king of the beach: “Super Dave.” I lost him tragically last year in a house fire, but he will always be one of my good things. I feel him in my bones every step.

9. The Viewpoints Book by Anne Bogart and Tina Landau. Speaking of women in theater, I have been hooked on integrating Viewpoints in every project I embark on. They are fantastic tools for actors, directors and writers.

10. Bold Monk Brewery. This is by far my favorite brewery in Atlanta. The beer is strong, the mussels are life-changing and the vibes are just right. Bonus: They have a curated bookstore upstairs. 

11. The number 11. My lucky number!
