The 2020 edition of the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival, set to celebrate its 39th season this summer, has canceled with plans to come back in 2021.
The festival was scheduled to run from July 3 through August 9.
“We waited as long as we possibly could, hoping for a miracle, but sadly the time has come to make the call,” said festival director William Ransom, who is also artistic director of the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta. “We are already planning for a truly blockbuster 40th anniversary season in 2021.”
The chamber music festival is held annually in the mountains of North Carolina and draws an influx of Atlanta classical music fans. Scheduled artists for this year’s festival included David Coucheron and Julie Coucheron, violinists Cho-Liang Lin and Ray Chen and cellists Zuill Bailey and Charae Krueger.
In times like these, when we are separated by necessity, ArtsATL is needed more than ever. Please consider a donation so we can continue to highlight Atlanta’s creative community.
