Photo essay: ‘Currents of Motion’ improvises dance and music at Eyedrum
On Saturday, May 17, Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery presented Currents of Motion: Sound, Movement & Collective Response. Divided into two sets, the first set featured a musical performance by Drum Major Instinct, an experimental music duo from Asheville, North Carolina, and Katherine Young, an Atlanta-based improvisational bassoonist.
The second set featured a dance performance that was organized by Core Dance Artistic Director Sue Schroeder and performed by dancers Alejandro Abarca, Juana Farfan, Jimmy Joyner, Sammy Spriggs, Lori C. Teague and Schroeder herself. The experimental performance was billed as an embodiment of Core Dance’s mission to create art that “illuminates and connects” through improvisational dance and music.
