Your Source For The Arts In Atlanta

Poet, activist and publisher jessica Care moore appears at 7 p.m. Friday on Hammonds House Digital to read from her new book, We Want Our Bodies Back, and to talk with Leatrice Ellzy, executive director of the Hammonds House Museum. Moore, a Detroit native,  has recorded albums that blend her poetry with music. Her new book is a passionate exploration and defiant stance against what she sees as attacks on black women due to misogyny, criminalization, hatred, stereotypes and racism. The event is free, but you must register to receive a link and password.

Singer/songwriter Michelle Malone has become one of the most active livestreaming voices in the pandemic era, and she has two virtual shows upcoming. At 8:30 p.m. Friday, she’ll do a Facebook Live performance of her 1996 album Beneath the Devil Moon. The show is free but donations are encouraged. Malone will also perform at 7 p.m. June 6 for the Red Boots Roots House concert series. Viewers are asked to contribute $20 and will then receive a link to register for the event.

In times like these, when we are separated by necessity, ArtsATL is needed more than ever. Please consider a donation so we can continue to highlight Atlanta’s creative community during this unprecedented time.
