Dean Schlabowske aka Ramblin Deano from The Waco Brothers
Dean Schlabowske’s music career spans 30+ years, most notibly as a co-founder, songwriter, singer, and guitarist for the Waco Brothers. Formed in 1994, the Wacos’ “Cash Meets Clash” style has become something of an alt-country touchstone, played out on more than a dozen releases for Chicago’s Bloodshot records. The live shows are legendary, and the records have received plaudits from the likes of Robert Christgau, Greil Marcus, and many more.
Dean is also involved in many side projects, the most recent being a collaborative album with his wife Jo Walston, lead singer of the beloved Austin band The Meat Purveyors, titled simply “Deano & Jo”. The record emphasizes their mutual love of old honky tonk and bluegrass. Shortly before and during the pandemic, Dean recorded a series of solo and group recordings of folk/protest songs as “Ramblin’ Deano”. And then there is Ice Cold Singles, a rowdy group of Austin, Texas who have been performing and recording on and off for over 15 years. In 2004 and 2007, Bloodshot released two albums from another side-project, Dollar Store, probably the hardest rocking of the projects. Dean continues to write, record, and tour, both with the Waco Brothers and musician friends from around the US and in Canada.
Greg Hester – Augusta, GA native, Greg Hester began his musical journey as a teenager when a group of musical friends realized Greg had the magic and they gathered around him forming a band of troubadours to begin touring the southeast, writing, recording, and rising through the ranks by gaining respect from audiences and industry insiders. Now, many years later, with 11 full length albums, Greg is still touring and bringing joy to listeners everywhere with his southern country soul. Greg Hester has shared the stage and warmed up audiences for artists like Leon Russell, John Popper, Jimmy Hall, Warren Zevon, the Doobie Brothers, and Sharon Jones.
