Elizabeth B. Stephens International Organ Competition

The competition is for young organists from around the world. In 2022, the first year of the competition, we received applications from more than 70 musicians from 19 countries.

2022 was a tremendous success, and honored the legacy of Atlanta’s Betty Stephens, a long-time supporter of classical music and arts in Atlanta. This year, the competition recitals take place on what would have been her 100th birthday.

First prize for the competition is $12,000, with second prize set at $6,000 and third at $3,000. The prize money is among the highest for such competitions around the world. The 2022 winner, Quentin du Verdier from France, used his prize money to install a new organ in his hometown church!
