Art Alchemy: Opening Reception

ART ALCHEMY is an exhibition of new work by Atlanta-based artist Donald Billinkoff. The show opens on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 6-9 PM, at Gallery 72. The show continues through Friday, July 26. Billinkoff is an architect and at the heart of his work lies a profound interest in the marriage of street art and the built environment. His work weaves together architectural images with graffiti, peeling paint, street posters, signage, mechanical assemblages, vintage cars and even dumpsters. Bold texture and color are the vocabulary for his artistic expression.
Billinkoff uses his iPhone camera to capture images across the Atlanta metro area and wherever he travels. Showcasing the versatility of his creative process, the exhibit includes oversized prints on paper, as well as prints on aluminum and fabric. In a departure from his architectural roots, Billinkoff has veered into the world of quilt-making where he achieves an alchemy of image and craft.
The artist invites friends and the public to celebrate the distinct and transformative power of his art on Thursday, June 6. RSVPs are strongly encouraged.
