Atlanta’s global moment: Highlights from Art Week, Art Fair and more

Atlanta Art Fair, Atlanta Art Week, Atlanta Design Festival and other events concentrated artists’ efforts in a way the city has seldom seen.

For about a week in early October, the international art world turn its eyes to Atlanta. Atlanta Art Fair, Atlanta Art Week, Atlanta Design Festival and several other events brought a level of global press attention seldom experienced by Atlanta artists, galleries and other art institutions.

Over the course of the week, Atlanta art institutions — as well as a host of visiting artists and galleries — put on display a higher level of artistic ambition than has been concentrated in the city in recent memory. From the Art Fair to the multi-arts SITE exhibition at The Goat Farm to numerous artist-run projects, the city produced a passel of sophisticated and thought-provoking experiences for visitors and natives alike.

Here is a noncomprehensive peek into some of the highlights the week had to offer, acknowledging that many fine projects, artists and galleries have been left out.
