Through July 31

Spruill Gallery’s (4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road) Spruill Studios Pop-Up showcases works by the 16 Atlanta-based artists selected to hold space at the new Spruill Studios facility. There’s a closing reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 31.

Through August 15

Life, Liberty & Happiness at the Alpharetta Arts Center (288 Canton St.) celebrates our country’s history in this 250th year. Covering two national holidays, artists are invited to express their interpretations, experiences and reflections of our collective journey. It’s on view through August 15.

The current exhibit at Abernathy Arts Center in Sandy Springs (6621 Bridgewood Valley Road) features artwork from Atlanta resident Caroline Burnet and will be on display through August 15. [Inter]/[Dis]Connected is a collection of wall hangings; a disparate slip of folded paper encases each paper clip, which are then strung together in chains. The chains then hang in a series to collectively form an image. A Woman’s Words consists of ink drawings on vellum that explore the holistic notion that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts in the collection’s modern homage to pointillism.

Through August 22

Experience an inspiring collection of exceptional drawings at Drawing Attention at Norcross Gallery & Studios (116 Carlyle St.). The show continues through August 22.

The Avondale Arts Alliance’s Extremes features pieces as small as 1 inch x 1 inch to as big as 10 feet. It’s on view at the Avondale Arts Center (84 N. Avondale Road) through August 22, when there will be a closing reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Through September 24

Ninefold: A Distributed Resonant Field is a distributed installation of nine sound-producing artifacts that treats composition as a single environment where architecture, music and fabrication converge. Drawing on the legacy of Edgard Varèse’s “organized sound” and the spatial systems of Iannis Xenakis and Le Corbusier, the project distributes distinct, networked devices throughout a space. Plastic Reimagined: Material Agency & Circular Design explores the “afterlife” of plastic material, shifting the architectural focus from what plastic is to what it has the potential to become. This exhibition combines technology, design and art. Both shows are on view at Woodstock Arts at the Reeves House Visual Arts Center (734 Reeves St., Woodstock). The shows continue through September 24.

July 25-August 29

Sonic Impressions is an abstract, nonfigurative art exploration of sound translated into visual form, where rhythm, memory and musical structure shape color, composition and material expression. It opens with a reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 25 and will be on view through August 29 at ArtsXchange’s Jack Sinclair Gallery in East Point (2148 Newnan St.).

July 30-August 30

Artists of all mediums display their work for Roots & Routes, an exhibition exploring where artists came from and the paths that brought them here — maps, journeys and the things carried across borders. The exhibition opens with a reception from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on July 30 and continues through August 30 at Doraville Art Center (2421 Van Fleet Circle).

July 31-August 9

O God My Heart is Ready is a reflection of artist Kinkle’s life, representing both the genesis and the ethos of the artist’s photographic practice. This body of work is rooted in preserving the fleeting moments of day-to-day life that may have otherwise been forgotten, while also revealing the intimacy of everyday existence. The show opens with a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on July 31 and continues through August 9. See it at the Callanwolde Fine Arts (980 Briarcliff Road NE). 

September 10-October 10

Moments In Light is a photography exhibition by the Analog To Digital Photography Group at the Chastain Park Arts Center & Gallery (135 Chastain Park Ave. NW). Founded more than 26 years ago, A2D has grown from a small gathering of photographers into a vibrant creative community dedicated to learning, mentoring, artistic growth and fellowship. The show opens with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on September 10 and continues through October 10.

September 11-October 17

Beyond Borders II: Global Voices will explore the complexity, nuance and lived experience of cultures around the world through deeply personal and authentic artistic perspectives. This exhibition will be juried and judged by the curatorial staff of The Art Center in Johns Creek (6290 Abbotts Bridge Road, Building 700) and will be on view from September 11 through October 17.
