“We can tell a story that has a beginning, middle and end — but that’s not what life is,” says artist Maggie Davis. (Disclosure: Davis is a contributor to ArtsATL.) Her solo exhibition, The Fourth Wallopen now and up through January 28 at Sandler Hudson Gallery, explores themes inspired by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, notorious for breaking the fourth wall in his works. “Storytelling has always had a role in art, from the earliest cave paintings to contemporary realism. As long as there has been an identifiable image the potential for creating a narrative is present no matter the subject of the work,” she says.
