WonderRoot’s “Generally Local, Mostly Independent Film Series: Best of Year Two” will be shown at a free screening in the High Museum of Art‘s Hill Auditorium at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 5.

Atlanta film critic Felicia Feaster selected the 11 works to be shown. The experience “gave me new hope for the remarkable imagination and visual chops of independent filmmakers in this city,” she says.

To whet your appetite for the event, we present one of the winners, “The History of Beatboxing” by Jamie Hawkins-Gaar, above. And if you can’t make it Saturday, never fear. We’ll show the rest of the pieces, one a day, beginning Monday. congratulates Hawkins-Gaar and the other filmmakers: Darrell Hazelrig, Sam Carter, Anna Winter, Will Feagins, Anna Spence, Nathan Honnold and Alex Zhuravlov, Russel Kiel and Christopher Hunt, Patrick Holl and Chris Chambers, Garry Bowden and Staci Gibson.
