SUMMARY:Cody Fry Christmas with the ASO
DESCRIPTION:Cody Fry returns to Symphony Hall this holiday season to reunite with the ASO for a concert sure to be fun for the whole family. Experience the viral sensation as Fry performs songs written and composed by himself\, as his father conducts the ASO. This lively and unique performance is sure to captivate any audience. \nCody Fry’s music sounds like the moment in your favorite old flick when the film changes from black-and-white to technicolor in a rush of emotion. As his orchestration booms\, you practically expect a Golden Age romance to unfold to the narration of his vocals. It’s warm enough to make you nostalgic\, but Cody always looks forward as a singer\, songwriter\, composer\, producer\, arranger\, and multi-instrumentalist. It’s why he’s quietly emerged as a phenomenon with hundreds of millions of streams\, hundreds of thousands of TikTok creations\, and widespread acclaim. Along the way he’s picked up two GRAMMY® Award nominations\, an RIAA Certified Gold record\, and sold out countless shows.

SUMMARY:Boz Scaggs - Rhythm Review 2025
DESCRIPTION:Boz Scaggs is an American singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist. An early bandmate of Steve Miller in The Ardells and the Steve Miller Band\, he began his solo career in 1969\, though he lacked a major hit until his 1976 album Silk Degrees peaked at Number 2 on the Billboard 200\, and produced the hit singles “Lido Shuffle” and “Lowdown”. Scaggs produced two more platinum-certified albums in Down Two Then Left and Middle Man\, the latter of which produced two Top-40 singles “Breakdown Dead Ahead” and “Jojo”. After a hiatus for most of the 1980s\, he returned to recording and touring in 1988\, joining The New York Rock and Soul Revue and opening the nightclub Slim’s\, a popular San Francisco music venue until it closed in 2020. He has continued to record and tour throughout the 1990s\, 2000s\, and 2010s\, with his most recent album being 2018’s Out of the Blues. \nScaggs is credited for helping the formation of Toto. For his 1976 album\, Silk Degrees\, he hand picked musicians after taking suggestions from several people. These musicians were David Paich\, David Hungate\, and Jeff Porcaro. The three were already friends and had frequently performed together on other albums\, such as Steely Dan’s Pretzel Logic. By going on tour with Scaggs\, it solidified the prospect of starting a band. Columbia picked up on this talent by offering the new group a contract “without audition”. Steve Porcaro described this as “a record deal thrown in our laps”. Paich stated “I’m not sure if Toto would have happened as soon\, or quite the same way\, without Silk Degrees”. Their friendship has continued throughout the decades shown by the varying collaborations and concerts performed together. Paich teamed up once more for Scaggs’ 2001 album\, Dig\, where he contributed to 6 out of the 11 songs.

SUMMARY:Brian Culbertson - Day Trip Tour
DESCRIPTION:Fans can expect a mix of Culbertson’s classic hits\, songs from his debut more fusion-oriented album Long Night Out\, and brand-new material from Day Trip. Every performance will be live with no tracks — just eleven musicians at the top of their game. Tickets for the Day Trip Tour\, which will also feature artists Nicholas Cole on Keys and Darren Rahn on Sax (both in the band)\, are available now at www.BrianCulbertson.com. \nOver the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist\, songwriter and producer\, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. Brand him pop and he creates a 32-minute New Age opus. And you’d be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months. \nCulbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Long Night Out landed him a lengthy record deal and signaled that a star was born. Flash forward to present day\, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn\, The Brecker Bros\, Chick Corea\, Al Jarreau\, Pat Metheny\, and others in the jazz fusion world. \n“It instantly brought me back to the days of ‘no rules’ and the pure joy of music\, something that I think a lot of albums today are lacking. With that said\, I set out to write and produce a new album that would try to capture a little bit of that late 70’s and early 80’s spirit of music exploration\, along with using only live musicians and real instruments.  Similar in style to Another Long Night Out\, Day Trip is the daytime version!” said Culbertson. \nPossessing style\, panache\, and a savvy business mind capable of moving the needle in music and beyond\, Culbertson founded and curates the annual Napa Valley\, New Orleans\, and Chicago Jazz Getaways\, which have attracted guests from all over the globe to experience his premier events. \nWhether you’re listening to music from Day Trip on record or live in concert\, you’re hearing an eclectic\, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

SUMMARY:Violent Femmes with the ASO
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, October 6\, 99X presents the Violent Femmes headed to Symphony Hall to perform their debut album alongside the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. \nViolent Femmes formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band playing on the streets of Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. Their main influences at that time were Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps and The Velvet Underground. Their goal was to rock harder than any other acoustic act on the planet. \nAfter being rejected for an audition by a local nightclub\, the Femmes set up outside a Pretenders gig and began to play. Pretenders’ lead singer Chrissie Hynde asked them to open that night’s show\, which gave the young band a publicity boost and caught the attention of Richard Hell\, who invited the Femmes to open for him in NYC. A rave review in the New York Times eventually led to a record deal\, which in turn spawned worldwide touring. \nViolent Femmes eponymous debut album became the first and only album in Billboard history to enter the charts with a platinum certification-eight years after its release. Over the ensuing three decades\, the Femmes became a mainstay of festivals\, clubs\, and theaters in more than 20 countries worldwide. \nMTV’s “Unplugged” show was inspired by the Femmes\, although they never actually appeared on it. Their raw sound and honest lyrical perspective has been cited as an influence by artists as diverse as Pink\, Keith Urban\, The Smiths\, The Pixies\, John Cusack\, Mark Morris\, and Wim Wenders. \nMore than 40 years into their careers\, Violent Femmes continue to attract young audiences on tour\, create lasting music and inspire people of all ages.
