Music + Dance: Core stream, chamber event

For those strolling around the Decatur Square, Core Dance has added streaming video to its studio windows on Sycamore Street. Starting Friday, enCore Dance on Film 2020 will begin showing. It features 20 short movies by dance filmmakers from around the world. The series has been part of the Decatur Arts Festival, which is canceled this year because of Covid-19. The film shorts can also be streamed online.

Atlanta’s Franklin Pond Chamber Music will stream the nation’s first socially distanced chamber music competition Sunday afternoon, featuring high school and collegiate musicians from across Georgia. The competition was to be held at Spivey Hall over Memorial Day weekend. Instead, eight finalist ensembles will compete virtually. The Franklin Pond faculty, all members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, will also present performances, and there may be a surprise superstar guest. The Finalists Showcase will be broadcast on YouTube Live at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24. The Competition Awards Show will follow at 4 p.m.

In times like these, when we are separated by necessity, ArtsATL is needed more than ever. Please consider a donation so we can continue to highlight Atlanta’s creative community.
