The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra returns January 14 for a virtual concert in its Behind the Curtain series. The performance will feature guest conductor Maxim Emelyanychev and cellist Seth Parker Woods, who’ll perform Tyshawn Sorey’s For Roscoe Mitchell. The program includes Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. A single pay-per-view is $20, and the ASO also has various virtual membership subscriptions.
With Wednesday’s chaos in Washington, it’s almost surreal to recall that just two weeks ago the air was filled with the holiday spirit. There is still time to learn the lessons of Scrooge with the cinematic world premiere of Marley Was Dead, To Begin With by Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre. It’s available for pay-per-view streaming through January 22. The production embraces the possibilities of cinema and features voiceovers by Atlanta actors Tess Malis Kincaid and Chris Kayser. Kayser played Ebenezer Scrooge in the Alliance Theatre’s A Christmas Carol for 17 years. $35; $15 students; $50 for a VIP pass that includes a link to an artist Q&A.
