The Atlanta Film Festival has pushed its 2020 event — normally held in April — to September and is already soliciting “Hella Early” submissions for its 2021 event, running April 22–May 2, 2021. The deadline for “Hella Early” submissions is midnight Thursday (June 4). The next deadline is July 9. The “Hella Early” deadline comes with the lowest entry fees available.
The annual event screens narrative and documentary features and short films, animation, experimental films, puppetry films, music videos, virtual-reality films, episodic pilots, food films and family-friendly features. For 2021, it’s also seeking entries of screenplays — scripts, short scripts and pilot scripts.
Organizers received more than 8,500 submissions from more than 120 countries for the 2020 festival, they said in a statement, adding that nearly 200 films are screened each year and as many as 85 percent of those come from submissions.
