Is Atlanta dance heaven? It might be for the next two weeks.
Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts will bring Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company from New York (above). Jones, a MacArthur “Genius,” was named “An Irreplaceable Dance Treasure” by the Dance Heritage Coalition in 2000.
At the other end of town, the Atlanta Ballet will perform its Roméo et Juliette, the tragic romance that was a Valentine’s Day favorite last year.
Next week, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater rolls into town with new pieces, including Odetta, and old favorites, i.e., Revelations.
In addition, Decatur’s CORE Performance Company will perform a site-specific piece at Callanwolde accompanied by Bent Frequency.
