The Coathangers are packing punk rock vibrancy at the Earl with back-to-back shows on December 30–31 before departing for tour in 2019.
Rollicking anthems like “Make it Right” and “Watch Your Back” provide a head-banging entrance into the new year. Since its inception in 2006, the trio has blown up around the world — crafting sociopolitical songs without sacrificing the fun factor that won audiences in the first place. Songs like “Squeeki Tiki” from Nosebleed Weekend go as far as combining squeaky toys with screaming traumatic memories of past relationships — painful and mocking while finding release in accepting lost love.
While the group continues to make punk rock epics, their soundscape is best experienced live with a drink in one hand and a squeaky toy in the other.
