SUMMARY:Sunday\, August 16th: Seven-String Jazz Guitarist Taylor Roberts
DESCRIPTION:Taylor Roberts is one of those rare guitarists whose artistry transcends genre while remaining deeply rooted in the language of jazz. A master of the seven-string guitar\, Roberts blends breathtaking technique with warmth\, lyricism\, and an unmistakable sense of melody\, creating performances that are as emotionally engaging as they are technically dazzling. Although jazz is at the heart of his playing\, his musical vocabulary stretches effortlessly across blues\, R&B\, pop\, rock\, and the Great American Songbook\, allowing him to connect with audiences of every background. His distinctive style has taken him to international stages\, multiple appearances at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival\, and nearly a decade as the featured in-house entertainer at The Ritz-Carlton\, Amelia Island. \nWhether performing intimate solo arrangements or leading an ensemble\, Roberts has earned a reputation for transforming familiar songs into fresh musical experiences while bringing sophistication\, soul\, and spontaneity to every performance. Having studied with acclaimed educators Barry Greene\, Keith Javors\, and Bunky Green\, he combines a lifetime of study with the effortless communication of a seasoned performer. The result is a concert experience that is both virtuosic and deeply personal—one that reminds audiences why live jazz remains one of the most compelling art forms in the world.

We suggest a donation of $20 for folks who are able. Donations can be processed in CASH at the door or online via GiveLively (links to Venmo\, PayPal\, Stripe and more). \nCAUSE WE’RE SUPPORTING\nAs with all of our productions\, a portion of proceeds will be donated to a cause we believe in. To further align our production with the themes of acceptance and community that are the underpinning of this show\, a portion of the proceeds from this run will be donated to New American Pathways. As a Georgia-based nonprofit\, their mission is to help refugees and newcomers from all over the world navigate the journey from arrival to citizenship. By supporting their work in refugee resettlement\, English literacy\, and career advancement\, we hope to honor the play’s message of finding a sense of belonging and ensuring that everyone\, regardless of where they come from\, has the opportunity to thrive in our local community. \nSYNOPSIS\nIn a remote fishing lodge in rural Georgia\, a pathologically shy man named Charlie seeks a quiet escape from the world. To save him from the strain of conversation\, his friend convinces the local residents that Charlie is a “foreigner” who understands no English. The plan backfires with hilarious results as the lodge’s colorful inhabitants—from a cynical heiress to a scheming preacher—begin to treat Charlie as a silent confidant\, confessing their deepest secrets and dark scandals right to his face. What follows is a high-stakes\, mile-a-minute farce where a man who just wanted to be invisible finds himself the only person capable of saving the day.\n“A comic masterpiece… Shue’s play is a tribute to the power of the human spirit to find a common language\, even when the words are all wrong.” — The New York Times \nCONTENT WARNING\nWhile The Foreigner is a celebrated comedy\, its plot centers on a conflict with a local group motivated by xenophobia and extremism. Our production is committed to exploring these themes with modern intentionality\, specifically focusing on the absurdity of hate while prioritizing the safety of our performers and audience. To ground the conflict in a more recognizable contemporary context\, we will be utilizing a “Proud Boys” aesthetic and physicality for many of the antagonists. In terms of staging\, we plan to use very limited traditional regalia\, supplementing the wardrobe with modern-inspired “inflammatory” costuming (ie: “Proud Boys” references). This approach allows us to clearly identify the threat and the play’s anti-bigotry message without unnecessarily overwhelming the space with historical trauma-based imagery. We are dedicated to maintaining an open dialogue throughout the rehearsal process to ensure a supportive environment for all artists involved. \nWHEELCHAIR ACCESS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE – Our wheelchair elevator is currently out of commission and being serviced. We’ll update this form as soon as it is up and running again. Please email info@renegadetheatreco.org for any questions about accessing the space.

SUMMARY:Elf Power with Five Eight and Shehehe
DESCRIPTION:Elf Power’s new record\, Artificial Countrysides\, pushes the Athens\, GA band’s music in unexpected directions\, accentuating the psych-rock sound they have been honing for close to 30 years. Along with a blend of fuzz-toned electric and layered acoustic guitars\, Moog keyboards and lively drums\, the group experimented with the sounds of marimba\, Mellotron\, harpsichord\, synth bass and distorted drum machine loops\, all topped with melodies that echo in your head long after the music stops. The effect is electrifying\, on songs that are unmistakably from Elf Power\, yet muscular and propulsive in a distinctive new way. \nAthens legends Five Eight have been playing electrifying rock shows from small clubs to huge stadiums for decades now. Members of R.E.M.\, Gang of Four\, Sugar\, The Minutemen and the Drive-by Truckers are fans\, and the band has been riding high since touring in support of the feature documentary Weirdo: The Story of Five Eight in 2025. Paste Magazine called the movie “A gripping story of one of the best live bands to come out of Athens\, Georgia\, full of fantastic music and visuals.” Also last year\, Rolling Stone Magazine called their music “…vibrant and exciting\, the kind of rock you play when you’ve decided that you’re committed to the game for life.” Five Eight’s ninth studio album\, Help a Sinner\, was released on May 8th\, 2026. \nShehehe: uncompromised\, unabashed\, uninhibited. The Athens trio’s snarly call and response male/female punk vocals\, occasional soft\, sweet harmonies — and a scream or two — paired with thumpy\, pounding\, aggressive\, hypnotic rhythms have been inspiring and cultivating a genuinely honest\, nostalgic\, yet unique rock & roll scene.

SUMMARY:Seared
DESCRIPTION:With a savvy restaurant consultant and a waiter with dreams of his own added to the mix – everything starts to ignite in flames in this hilarious and insightful new play that explores what happens when art and money collide. \nAudiences will be up close to the action as the Woodstock Stage is transformed into the intimate kitchen of a New York City restaurant. SEARED is calling you into the kitchen to DISCOVER THE FIRE! \nHarry – a culinary genius with a flare for the dramatic – receives a positive review in a food magazine for his signature scallops and his business partner can see their restaurant finally making money. The catch – Harry refuses to ever make the scallops again. \nSEARED is a play that asks questions we are all deeply familiar with – what happens when the things that feel so intimately personal and our own become something that belongs to everyone? It’s also a play where we explore – intimately- the world of high-stakes cuisine\, and enter into the kitchen for a front-row look. We here at Woodstock Arts are so excited to create a fully functional kitchen onstage for this show and cook a meal for the audience to see\, hear\, and even smell! (We may not have enough portions for everyone to taste\, unfortunately).

DESCRIPTION:Winner of five Tony Awards\, including Best Book and Best Original Score\, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical\, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.\nWith the houselights down\, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding\, a bumbling best man\, a desperate theatre producer\, a not-so-bright hostess\, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs\, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone\, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

SUMMARY:F*CK THIS\, I'M GOING TO CHURCH
DESCRIPTION:Virginia-Highland Church is proud to present an all new experimental theatre performance devised by local artists titled F*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH taking place at Virginia-Highland Church every weekend of March. \nMarch 06 – March 28\, 2026\nFridays at 8:00pm\nSaturdays at 3:00pm and 7:00pm \nF*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH is an immersive\, experimental theatre experience that reclaims the idea of church as loving community\, rejecting religious dogma that preaches shame\, judgment\, oppression\, and abuse.
