SUMMARY:The World(s) She Made: Composing The Radical Lives of Kathleen Neal Cleaver
DESCRIPTION:The World(s) She Made: Composing the Radical Lives of Kathleen Neal Cleaver is the first public photography exhibit to explore the exceptional life of Kathleen Neal Cleaver. It draws heavily from the personal collection that Ms. Cleaver curated for decades and includes a few images from other collections such as that of Dr. Doris Derby. This photography show chronicles Cleaver’s personal journey from the child of a U.S. Foreign Service officer living across the U.S. South\, Asia\, and West Africa to a leader in the Black Panther Party and the international Black Power movement; and as she went from living “inside exile” (accompanying her fugitive husband to Algeria and France while she herself still possessed relative freedom of movement) to Yale University as a student\, all while raising two children\, becoming a law professor at Yale and Emory Universities\, and building a career in human rights.

SUMMARY:BECOMING
DESCRIPTION:Spalding Nix Fine Art is thrilled to present BECOMING\, a series of four exhibitions by Khalilah Birdsong\, Gretchen Wagner\, Mary Robinson and Angela Carter. Together\, the exhibitions explore transformation – how memory\, material\, color\, place and human connection shape what we carry forward and what we become. Khalilah Birdsong’s “There but for the Grace of You Go I” is a series of layered abstract paintings that consider how memory\, grace and human connection shape our capacity for resurgence\, inviting us to reflect on our responsibility to one another. Gretchen Wagner’s “Color Interaction VI” is part of an ongoing series of printed\, stitched and folded mixed media works that investigates how color responds when it is asked to occupy three-dimensional space. Mary Robinson’s “After Before” is a series of abstract works inspired by the continual flux of life\, utilizing materials and remnants from past works through the processes of painting\, printmaking and collage. Angela Carter’s “Indigo Sunshine” is a series of quilt-inspired mixed media works exploring memory\, place\, movement\, and the ways fragments of experience can be transformed into something new and whole. \nOpening Reception: Friday\, September 18\, 6-8 p.m. & Saturday\, September 19\, 12-4 p.m.\nOn view September 18 – November 13\nOpen Monday – Friday\, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.\, or by appointment

SUMMARY:2026 Little 5 Points Halloween Festival & Parade
DESCRIPTION:🎃 13 Things You Can’t Miss at the Little 5 Points Halloween Festival & Parade® \nLittle 5 Points is going all in for Halloween. Two days of monsters\, music\, art\, performances\, ghosts\, creatures and more — all leading up to Atlanta’s wildest Halloween tradition. \n1. THE L5P HALLOWEEN PARADE – Sunday at 1 PM\, the streets of Little 5 Points fill with floats\, performers\, creatures\, costumes and community groups for the legendary L5P Halloween Parade. This year’s theme\, *Cryptids\, Creatures and Community Legends*\, brings together L5P monsters and some very real local legends. \n2. L5P LEGACY BUSINESSES IN THE PARADE – Some of the businesses that helped make Little 5 Points what it is will be celebrated in this year’s parade. Watch for L5P legacy businesses and the people behind them as we recognize decades of independent business history in the neighborhood. \n3. SEE THE FLOATS UP CLOSE – The parade doesn’t have to end when the last float rolls by. Several floats will head to the Little 5 Points Community Center after the parade\, where you can get a closer look at them. \n4. THE L5P HALLOWEEN PHOTO GALLERY – Little 5 Points held a Halloween Photo Contest\, and the winning photographs are being enlarged and installed on storefront windows throughout the district — turning L5P itself into an outdoor Halloween photo gallery. Walk the neighborhood and discover them all. \n5. QUEENS OF THE CRYPT – Part ghost story\, part performance and very Little 5 Points. *Queens of the Crypt* is a ghost story led by drag queens through the streets of L5P. \n6. CRITTERS FROM THE CRYPT — PET COSTUME CONTEST – The creatures aren’t all human. Dress up your four-legged monster and enter *Critters from the Crypt*\, L5P’s Pet Costume Contest. Expect costumes\, creatures and some serious competition for Halloween bragging rights. \n7. ATLANTA CIRCUS ALLIANCE – Saturday night at 7 PM\, the Atlanta Circus Alliance takes over with a special Halloween performance. Expect circus\, spectacle and plenty of surprises. \n8. THE MONSTER STICKER HUNT – Monsters are hiding throughout Little 5 Points. Grab your clues and hunt through the neighborhood for monster stickers created with the *Little Art School*. \n9. THE BAT CAVE RAVE – Find your way to the Bat Cave Rave for music\, dancing and a decidedly L5P version of Halloween nightlife. On Saturday from 5-10pm at L5P Community Center \n10. GHOST TOURS – Little 5 Points has plenty of stories — including some involving people who may have never left. Explore the neighborhood’s darker history on one of\nour Halloween Ghost Tours\, including boozy options for the grown-up ghost hunters. \n11. L5P LABORATORY OF HORROR – Something strange is happening inside the old elementary school. Enter the *L5P Research Facility*\, an immersive Halloween experience at the Little 5 Points Community Center. What exactly are they researching? You may wish you hadn’t asked. \n12. MONSTERS\, CREATURES & PERFORMERS EVERYWHERE – You don’t have to be standing at a stage to find something happening. Expect roaming creatures\, circus performers\, stilt walkers and other strange sightings throughout the weekend. \n13. TWO FULL DAYS OF HALLOWEEN IN LITTLE 5 POINTS – This isn’t just a parade. Spend the weekend exploring L5P\, shopping independent businesses\, eating and drinking around the neighborhood\, finding the photo installations and monsters\, catching performances and seeing what turns up next. \nL5P Halloween Festival & Parade®\n📅 October 17–18\, 2026\n🎃 Parade: Sunday\, October 18 at 1 PM\n📍 Little 5 Points\, Atlanta \nProduced by the Little 5 Points Cultural District. \nCONTACT: Kelly Stocks 404-735-4924

SUMMARY:Anamnesis
DESCRIPTION:The Greek noun\, anamnesis\, asserts the ever-presence of the past. It can be translated straightforwardly as ‘reminiscence\,’ but it is also a word that expresses the possibility of remembering things from a previous existence\, used by the ancient Greek philosopher\, Plato\, to describe the innate knowledge recalled by the immortal soul through each rebirth. Using anamnesis as its guiding principle\, this exhibition stages a series of conversations\, or remembrances\, between the work of Sergio Suárez (b. 1995\, Mexico City\, Mexico) and the Carlos Museum’s collections of Indigenous American art\, Greek and Roman art\, and Works on Paper. Through print\, sculpture\, and ceramic\, interspersed through the permanent collection galleries\, Suárez explores the passage and presence of time on a cosmic\, mythic\, and intimately human scale\, inviting us to consider the processes that transform objects into artifacts and the histories\, memories\, and lives they embody.

SUMMARY:Between Here & Infinity: Celebrating 30 Years of the Spelman College Art Collection
DESCRIPTION:Between Here & Infinity: Celebrating 30 Years of the Spelman College Art Collection\, an expansive exhibition featuring nearly seventy works by Black women artists who shape our permanent collection and define our mission. Beginning September 9\, 2026\, visitors to the Spelman College Museum will have opportunities to discover art and artists from the collection. The first exhibition to span both the museum’s galleries\, this exhibition will open in two waves: at the Bank of America Gallery at the Mary Schmidt Campbell Center for Innovation & the Arts\, opening September 9\, 2026\, and in the gallery in the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby\, Ed.D. Academic Center on October 2\, 2026. \nBetween Here & Infinity: Celebrating 30 Years of the Spelman College Art Collection is grounded in dreaming and the Black feminist imagination\, exploring ways of knowing\, seeing\, and creating shaped by Black women’s lived experiences. Between Here & Infinity presents artworks drawn from the permanent collection\, organized by areas inspired by the layers of Earth’s atmosphere to gesture toward the vast and diverse qualities of the Black feminist imagination which shapes it: the Root\, works that ground the collection in origin and tradition; the Threshold\, works that evoke crossings through transitional space; the Interior\, works that turn inward toward intimacy and quietude; the Expanse\, works that are conceptually daring and electric in color; and the Horizon\, where the past meets the future and dissolves into limitless possibility. Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition in any order they choose\, taking in the collection’s range and depth.

SUMMARY:Design Next: Seeing & Sketching
DESCRIPTION:What is Design Next? \nPresented by the Museum of Design Atlanta in partnership with the Peachtree Branch of the Fulton County Library System\, Design Next is a free architecture program for students in grades 9-12. \nIn this session\, we’ll explore how architects use drawing to observe\, communicate\, and develop ideas. Students will practice observational sketching techniques used by designers while learning how line weight\, contour drawing\, and perspective help communicate three-dimensional spaces on paper. Through guided exercises and architectural sketching\, students will strengthen their drawing skills while learning to see the built environment in new ways. \nWhat You’ll Do \nLearn why sketching is an essential tool for architects \nPractice blind contour drawing and observational sketching \nExplore line weight and how it creates depth and emphasis \nLearn one-point\, two-point\, and three-point perspective drawing \nSketch architectural features and everyday spaces \nAdd observational drawings to your design portfolio \nShare your work and receive constructive feedback \nPractice observation\, visual communication\, spatial thinking\, patience\, and creative confidence \nNew to drawing or already filling sketchbooks at home? This session will help you see like a designer and sketch with purpose.

SUMMARY:RIPCORD
DESCRIPTION:A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility\, so when the cantankerous Abby is forced to share her quarters with new-arrival Marilyn\, she has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the old women quickly escalates into a dangerous game of one-upmanship that reveals not just the tenacity of these worthy opponents\, but also deeper truths that each would rather remain hidden. \n“Tastily sweet-and-sour\, Ripcord is great fun!” – Time Out New York
