SUMMARY:Gainesville Goes Pop Exhibit by Chris Hobé
DESCRIPTION:Gainesville Goes Pop by Chris Hobé\nThe inspiration for this body of work comes from everyday life and the layers of life that make up a whole. Each one of my pieces incorporates different layers and iconic nostalgic imagery from comic books\, music\, logos and patterns. There are always subtle subliminal messages in each piece that are drawn from pop culture and childhood. I tend to use loud and vibrant colors because nothing says in your face happiness like some bright color. Lastly\, the techniques that I use come from years of creating stencils\, painting and illustration; each piece is a mash-up of pop culture and iconic imagery created to give you a one-of-a-kind visual experience. \nAbout Chris Hobé\nCalifornia born pop artist\, Chris Hobé also known as ArtRevolts creates a box for the world to think outside of. Through Hobés use of vibrant color combinations\, eclectic and popular culture themes has made his one of a kind art pieces highly sought after. Hobés clientele includes domestic and international celebrities and avid art collectors. His work has been shown at several well known venues and establishments including art Basel Scope Art Show as a Bombay Sapphire regional finalist. Some of his collaborations include\, the W Hotels\, Jack Daniels\, Svedka Vodka\, Bombay Sapphire\, Halo Lounge\, Atlantic Station\, CBS radio\, Puma\, Lab Art\, 20th Century Fox\, Lee Daniels\, Mellow Mushroom and Raddison Red Hotel. ArtRevolts also recently exhibited a solo show at Scope Art Show Immersive Miami 2020.

SUMMARY:The World(s) She Made: Composing The Radical Lives of Kathleen Neal Cleaver
DESCRIPTION:The World(s) She Made: Composing the Radical Lives of Kathleen Neal Cleaver is the first public photography exhibit to explore the exceptional life of Kathleen Neal Cleaver. It draws heavily from the personal collection that Ms. Cleaver curated for decades and includes a few images from other collections such as that of Dr. Doris Derby. This photography show chronicles Cleaver’s personal journey from the child of a U.S. Foreign Service officer living across the U.S. South\, Asia\, and West Africa to a leader in the Black Panther Party and the international Black Power movement; and as she went from living “inside exile” (accompanying her fugitive husband to Algeria and France while she herself still possessed relative freedom of movement) to Yale University as a student\, all while raising two children\, becoming a law professor at Yale and Emory Universities\, and building a career in human rights.

SUMMARY:Chuck Stewart: Framing the Sound
DESCRIPTION:The Sun ATL\, Atlanta’s contemporary art gallery and event venue located in the historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood\, is honored to present “Chuck Stewart: Framing the Sound\,” an exhibition of photographs by the late Chuck Stewart (1927–2017)\, widely regarded as the most prolific and consequential music photographer of the twentieth century. The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday\, August 8\, and runs through September 26\, 2026. \nStewart’s photographs appeared on more than 2\,000 album covers over a career spanning seven decades\, and his portraits of the era’s greatest musicians remain among the most recognized images in American cultural history. Twenty-five of his prints are held in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. His work has been exhibited at Jazz at Lincoln Center and recognized by institutions across the United States and Europe. \n“Framing the Sound” opens at a singular moment: 2026 marks the centenary of both John Coltrane and Miles Davis — both born in 1926 — and Stewart’s portraits of each are among the highlights of the exhibition. The show also features arresting photographs of Nina Simone\, Astrud Gilberto\, and Tina Turner\, among many others\, offering a sweeping visual record of an era that permanently shaped American music and culture. \n“It’s probably easier to ask me whom I haven’t photographed than to tell you who I have. But if there’s a historic moment in American music\, social or cultural history that you’re curious about\, chances are I was there or have photographs of somebody who was.”\n— Chuck Stewart \nThat breadth is reflected in the exhibition itself. “Framing the Sound” presents a curated selection of Stewart’s portrait work alongside a wall of album covers drawn from his extraordinary catalog — spanning Impulse!\, Verve\, Mercury\, Reprise\, Chess\, and other labels that defined the golden era of recorded jazz. \n“Framing the Sound” will serve as the opening event in a year of international gallery and museum exhibitions celebrating the centenary of Chuck Stewart’s birth in 2027. The Sun ATL is honored to help kick off that celebration in Atlanta. \n“Framing the Sound” is conceived and curated by Kim Stewart\, Director of the Chuck Stewart Archive\, in collaboration with The Sun ATL Director Shawn Vinson\, and is presented with the full support of the Chuck Stewart Estate. \nThe Sun ATL gratefully acknowledges WCLK 91.9 FM (Jazz WCLK\, Clark Atlanta University) as media sponsor and Fireball Entertainment Group LLC as presenting sponsor. \nEXHIBITION DETAILS\nPublic opening: Saturday\, August 8\, 2026\nClosing date: September 26\, 2026\nLocation: The Sun ATL\, 399 Edgewood Avenue SE\, Atlanta\, GA 30312\nGallery hours: Friday–Saturday 11am–5pm; Sunday–Thursday by appointment

SUMMARY:You Are Not Alone: BUGS!
DESCRIPTION:You Are Not Alone: BUGS!\, curated by Charlotte Woolf\, is a group exhibition featuring Atlanta-based painters\, sculptors\, photographers\, and multidisciplinary artists. The exhibition reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the Fine Arts Department at Georgia State University Perimeter College\, incorporating related programming in theater\, music\, and film centered around the theme of insects. \nThe title of the exhibition\, You Are Not Alone: BUGS!\, is drawn from the popular meme honoring the ecosystem’s smallest yet irreplaceable members. The exhibition features artists working across mediums whose practices engage insects and their vital role within ecological systems. Through themes of pollination\, decomposition\, labor\, and interdependence\, the show explores how insects shape the environments around us\, inviting both artists and viewers to reflect on the often-unseen networks sustained by these powerful creatures.

SUMMARY:REEL Art: installation Access Point - Work in Progress
DESCRIPTION:REEL Art: installation Access Point – Work in Progress\nby Adam Larsen in Collaboration with Sue Schroeder\nAccess Point is a feature length immersive documentary work in progress that follows individuals with disabilities as they navigate vast and varied natural landscapes. Through intimate interviews and vivid on-the ground footage\, the film explores often-overlooked barriers to outdoor accessibility—alongside powerful stories of resilience\, community\, and empowerment that emerge along the way.\nThe development of the documentary began with a diverse group of participantsconnected to Bay Area disability organizations\, including Ala Costa Centers\, BORP Adaptive Sports and Recreation\, The Center for Independent Living\, The Disability Cultural Center at UC Berkeley\, Friends of L’Arche San Francisco Bay Area\, Creative Growth\, and NIAD Art Center. These partnerships have provided invaluable insight\, ensuring the film authentically reflects the lived experiences of people across a range of disabilities. By featuring participants who are Deaf\, hard of hearing\, blind\, or who have mobility or cognitive disabilities\, Access Point highlights the many ways disability intersects with the natural world. It becomes not just a story of overcoming obstacles\, but also one of the universal human desire to engage with the outdoors—underscoring the transformative power of nature for all. Partnerships and participation in Access Point\nare currently expanding\, broadening its reach beyond the Bay Area to communities across the United States.\nAs participants explore outdoor spaces—from hiking trails and national parks to beaches\, forests\, and rivers—Access Point reveals the barriers people face\, including limited accessibility\, lack of resources\, and social or cultural exclusion. Each participant brings a unique relationship to nature: some are seasoned explorers whose access has been constrained\, while others are encountering these landscapes for the first time.\nThrough their experiences\, the film captures the joy\, reflection\, and sense of empowerment that nature can inspire when inequities in access are addressed. At its core\, Access Point is a story about inclusion\, equity\, and the right to experience the outdoors. It asserts that access to nature is a fundamental right not a privilege— and examines how inaccessible outdoor spaces intersect with broader societal inequities. By connecting the disability community with the environmental movement\,the film emphasizes that inclusive outdoor spaces are essential to a just and equitable society. It encourages a rethinking of how public spaces are designed and used\, fostering collaboration between environmental and disability advocates and sparking a broader conversation about access\, equity\, and belonging.\nUltimately\, Access Point invites viewers to reflect on their own relationships to the natural world and to envision a future where outdoor spaces are welcoming to everyone. Through compelling storytelling and the beauty of natural landscapes\, the documentary advocates for a world in which nature is a shared space—accessible\, engaging\, and inspiring for all.

SUMMARY:Marcus Kenney "See You Down the Line"
DESCRIPTION:Solo exhibition by Marcus Kenney of Savannah. This is Kenney’s eighth show with the gallery. \nIn “See You Down the Line”\, Marcus Kenney draws from a lifetime of collecting\, cutting apart and recombining ledger sheets\, wallpaper\, illustrations\, and other remnants of everyday life. Figures inhabit worlds where scale and logic are wonderfully unstable\, the familiar becomes peculiar—sometimes slightly unhinged—and humor coexists with beauty and unease. Built from materials that have already lived one life\, Kenney’s works put them back into circulation\, free to take on another.

SUMMARY:Irina Rozovsky Book Launch & Conversation with Gregory Harris
DESCRIPTION:Join Lostintheletters on Saturday\, September 12\, for an exciting conversation between Athens-based photographer Irina Rozovsky and curator Gregory Harris to celebrate the publication of Rozovsky’s Mountain Black Heart (MACK\, 2026). \nAbout Irina Rozovsky’s Mountain Black Heart \nOne morning in the summer of 2014\, Irina Rozovsky woke up in a Serbian mountain village to the sound of hundreds of trumpets as a brass band festival set up in the hills. At once pleading and tragic\, joyful and frenetic\, the music set the tone for what would become Rozovsky’s journey through the Balkan region\, including Montenegro\, Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Macedonia\, Croatia\, Greece\, Romania\, Bulgaria\, and Albania. Profoundly drawn to the land and its people\, Rozovsky created the intimate and equivocal photographs that form Mountain Black Heart. Rozovsky’s borderless vision drifts through railways\, farms\, open water\, parking lots\, fairgrounds\, and graveyards\, balancing vitality and life with suggestions of dark history and subtle signs of violence. Interspersed throughout are striking portraits of people and animals which emanate vulnerability and resilience. Through its loose\, expressionistic approach and a compassionate engagement with the human and natural world\, Rozovsky’s nomadic project pieces together a personal and kaleidoscopic view of a fragmented place. \nAbout Irina Rozovsky \nIRINA ROZOVSKY (b. 1981\, Moscow) is a photographer based in Paris\, France and Athens\, Georgia\, USA. Her solo shows have included ‘Turn the Sun’ at Tureen\, Dallas (2024)\, and ‘Traditions Highway’ at CPM Gallery\, Baltimore (2022). Her work has featured in group exhibitions including ‘A Long Arc’\, Virginia Museum of Fine Art (2024) and ‘Companion Pieces: New Photography’\, Museum of Modern Art\, New York (2020). Previous publications include One to Nothing (2011)\, Island in My Mind (2015)\, and In Plain Air (2021). Her work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, New York; the High Museum of Art\, Atlanta; Philadelphia Museum of Art\, and more. \nAbout Gregory Harris \nGregory Harris is the Donald and Marilyn Keough Family Curator of Photography at High Museum of Art in Atlanta. He is a specialist in contemporary photography with a particular interest in documentary practice. Since joining the High in 2016\, Harris has curated over two dozen exhibitions that consider an array of topics\, including notions of truth in contemporary photography\, the intersections of photography and self-taught art\, and distinct history of photography in the American South. His recent publications include Mimi Plumb: Blazing Light (Radius Books\, 2026)\, A Long Arc: Photography and the American South since 1845 (Aperture\, 2023)\, Evelyn Hofer: Eyes on the City (High Museum of Art and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art\, 2023)\, and Walks to the Paradise Garden (Institute 193\, 2018)\, and he has contributed essays to monographs by Mark Steinmetz\, Amy Elkins\, Matthew Brandt\, and Paul D’Amato. Harris was previously the Assistant Curator at the DePaul Art Museum in Chicago and also held curatorial positions at the Art Institute of Chicago. He earned a BFA in photography from Columbia College Chicago and an MA in art history from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

SUMMARY:Seared
DESCRIPTION:With a savvy restaurant consultant and a waiter with dreams of his own added to the mix – everything starts to ignite in flames in this hilarious and insightful new play that explores what happens when art and money collide. \nAudiences will be up close to the action as the Woodstock Stage is transformed into the intimate kitchen of a New York City restaurant. SEARED is calling you into the kitchen to DISCOVER THE FIRE! \nHarry – a culinary genius with a flare for the dramatic – receives a positive review in a food magazine for his signature scallops and his business partner can see their restaurant finally making money. The catch – Harry refuses to ever make the scallops again. \nSEARED is a play that asks questions we are all deeply familiar with – what happens when the things that feel so intimately personal and our own become something that belongs to everyone? It’s also a play where we explore – intimately- the world of high-stakes cuisine\, and enter into the kitchen for a front-row look. We here at Woodstock Arts are so excited to create a fully functional kitchen onstage for this show and cook a meal for the audience to see\, hear\, and even smell! (We may not have enough portions for everyone to taste\, unfortunately).

SUMMARY:The Drowsy Chaperone
DESCRIPTION:Winner of five Tony Awards\, including Best Book and Best Original Score\, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical\, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.\nWith the houselights down\, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding\, a bumbling best man\, a desperate theatre producer\, a not-so-bright hostess\, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs\, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone\, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

SUMMARY:F*CK THIS\, I'M GOING TO CHURCH
DESCRIPTION:Virginia-Highland Church is proud to present an all new experimental theatre performance devised by local artists titled F*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH taking place at Virginia-Highland Church every weekend of March. \nMarch 06 – March 28\, 2026\nFridays at 8:00pm\nSaturdays at 3:00pm and 7:00pm \nF*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH is an immersive\, experimental theatre experience that reclaims the idea of church as loving community\, rejecting religious dogma that preaches shame\, judgment\, oppression\, and abuse. In the midst of our tumultuous political climate and with the rise of harmful Christian nationalism\, local Atlanta theatre artists have come together to devise a performance that seeks to dismantle the toxic ideas of religiosity\, reclaiming Great Love as our collective eternal purpose. This walking path will involve stairs; comfortable shoes are encouraged. \nThe performance is 18+ due to mature themes\, explicit language\, and nudity. \nPerformances will run every Friday at 8:00pm and Saturday at 3:00pm and 7:00pm of March 2026 at Virginia-Highland Church UCC\, 743 Virginia Ave NE\, Atlanta\, GA 30306.
