DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Atlanta as a host city for the World Cup this summer\, Emory Libraries’ newest exhibition\, “Footwork: Celebrating Soccer\, Culture\, & Community\,” explores the intersection of soccer\, culture\, and identity. Drawing on Emory’s collections\, academic expertise\, and global partnerships—from sneaker culture influencers to community collaborators—it tells Atlanta’s connected stories of soccer\, civil rights\, and globalism from 1968 to today. Along the way\, it shows how our region\, our teams\, and even our sneakers help express who we are. \nThe exhibition features Rose Library materials that highlight soccer’s cultural and historical impact across Atlanta communities\, including memorabilia\, photos\, and artifacts from the Atlanta Chiefs\, the National Professional Soccer League\, and the creation of the North American Soccer League. Apparel from the adidas archives traces the shared evolution of the World Cup\, athletic performance\, and streetwear. \nCurated by Randy Gue (Rose Library) and Melissa Carnegie\, founder of Kicks & Fros\, the exhibition is presented by Emory Libraries\, the Michael C. Her recent work utilizes water as a vital\, organic\, and multifaceted element—as well as a historically charged space that concomitantly represents racial exclusion and individual healing. Calida Rawles: Away with the Tides bridges the past and present\, delving into the experience of Black people in America. Rawles partnered with Pérez Art Museum Miami and members of the historically Black community of Overtown in Miami to discover the interwoven narratives of place\, memory\, and belonging that animate her practice.

DESCRIPTION:Gainesville Goes Pop by Chris Hobé\nThe inspiration for this body of work comes from everyday life and the layers of life that make up a whole. Each one of my pieces incorporates different layers and iconic nostalgic imagery from comic books\, music\, logos and patterns. There are always subtle subliminal messages in each piece that are drawn from pop culture and childhood. I tend to use loud and vibrant colors because nothing says in your face happiness like some bright color. Lastly\, the techniques that I use come from years of creating stencils\, painting and illustration; each piece is a mash-up of pop culture and iconic imagery created to give you a one-of-a-kind visual experience. \nAbout Chris Hobé\nCalifornia born pop artist\, Chris Hobé also known as ArtRevolts creates a box for the world to think outside of. Through Hobés use of vibrant color combinations\, eclectic and popular culture themes has made his one of a kind art pieces highly sought after. Hobés clientele includes domestic and international celebrities and avid art collectors. His work has been shown at several well known venues and establishments including art Basel Scope Art Show as a Bombay Sapphire regional finalist. Some of his collaborations include\, the W Hotels\, Jack Daniels\, Svedka Vodka\, Bombay Sapphire\, Halo Lounge\, Atlantic Station\, CBS radio\, Puma\, Lab Art\, 20th Century Fox\, Lee Daniels\, Mellow Mushroom and Raddison Red Hotel. ArtRevolts also recently exhibited a solo show at Scope Art Show Immersive Miami 2020.

DESCRIPTION:Although Isamu Noguchi declared in 1949\, “I am not a designer\,” the internationally acclaimed artist regularly engaged with the space-shaping possibilities of design\, imagining and producing work in architecture\, industrial design\, ceramics\, furniture\, lighting\, stage sets\, and landscape design. In spring 2026\, the High will debut the artist’s first design retrospective in nearly twenty-five years\, featuring nearly two hundred objects\, many never or rarely exhibited\, spanning all facets of his creative output. \nIsamu Noguchi: “I am not a designer” coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of Playscapes\, a bicentennial gift for the city of Atlanta commissioned by the High in collaboration with the City of Atlanta Parks Department and the only one of Noguchi’s playgrounds built in the United States during his lifetime. \nHighlights of the exhibition will include sculptural models of potential and unrealized projects\, such as the recently rediscovered plaster for Play Mountain (1933); tables and stools designed for manufacturers like Herman Miller and Knoll; and a house model Noguchi designed in collaboration with architect Kazumi Adachi. The exhibition will also feature several large-scale installations\, notably the stage set for choreographer Martha Graham’s Seraphic Dialogue (1955)\, one of Noguchi’s innovative pieces of play equipment\, and a commissioned film capturing some of Noguchi’s site-specific plazas and gardens. The diverse\, interactive presentation will explore works that embrace function to understand Noguchi as a multinational\, interdisciplinary artist and designer who shaped a more open\, inclusive world. After Atlanta\, the exhibition will travel to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem\, Massachusetts (September 19\, 2026–January 3\, 2027) and the Memorial Art Gallery at the University of Rochester in Rochester\, New York (February 13–June 6\, 2027).

DESCRIPTION:Virginia-Highland Church is proud to present an all new experimental theatre performance devised by local artists titled F*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH taking place at Virginia-Highland Church every weekend of March. \nMarch 06 – March 28\, 2026\nFridays at 8:00pm\nSaturdays at 3:00pm and 7:00pm \nF*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH is an immersive\, experimental theatre experience that reclaims the idea of church as loving community\, rejecting religious dogma that preaches shame\, judgment\, oppression\, and abuse. In the midst of our tumultuous political climate and with the rise of harmful Christian nationalism\, local Atlanta theatre artists have come together to devise a performance that seeks to dismantle the toxic ideas of religiosity\, reclaiming Great Love as our collective eternal purpose. This walk-through experience is rooted in exploring healthy spiritual connection and creating community around healing from church-related trauma through humor\, dance\, narrative movement\, improvisation\, and meditative sound. \nAudiences will be guided by actors through a labyrinth of rooms inside Virginia-Highland Church\, each room holding a scene and activations for audiences to engage with. This walking path will involve stairs; comfortable shoes are encouraged. \nThe performance is 18+ due to mature themes\, explicit language\, and nudity. \nPerformances will run every Friday at 8:00pm and Saturday at 3:00pm and 7:00pm of March 2026 at Virginia-Highland Church UCC\, 743 Virginia Ave NE\, Atlanta\, GA 30306. Street parking is available surrounding the church. \nTickets are available on EventBrite for $20. Only 40 tickets will be sold for each performance to ensure an intimate experience for audiences.

To save him from the strain of conversation\, his friend convinces the local residents that Charlie is a “foreigner” who understands no English. The plan backfires with hilarious results as the lodge’s colorful inhabitants—from a cynical heiress to a scheming preacher—begin to treat Charlie as a silent confidant\, confessing their deepest secrets and dark scandals right to his face. What follows is a high-stakes\, mile-a-minute farce where a man who just wanted to be invisible finds himself the only person capable of saving the day.\n“A comic masterpiece… Shue’s play is a tribute to the power of the human spirit to find a common language\, even when the words are all wrong.” — The New York Times \nCONTENT WARNING\nWhile The Foreigner is a celebrated comedy\, its plot centers on a conflict with a local group motivated by xenophobia and extremism. Our production is committed to exploring these themes with modern intentionality\, specifically focusing on the absurdity of hate while prioritizing the safety of our performers and audience. To ground the conflict in a more recognizable contemporary context\, we will be utilizing a “Proud Boys” aesthetic and physicality for many of the antagonists. In terms of staging\, we plan to use very limited traditional regalia\, supplementing the wardrobe with modern-inspired “inflammatory” costuming (ie: “Proud Boys” references). This approach allows us to clearly identify the threat and the play’s anti-bigotry message without unnecessarily overwhelming the space with historical trauma-based imagery. Often writing about the “hard stuff” we go through in life\, Avery has a craft for making something tragic sound beautifully human. The winner of the Eddie’s Attic 49th Bi-Annual Songwriters’ Open Mic Shootout and a three-time National Young Arts Merit Winner in Voice-Singer/Songwriter\, Avery recently graduated from the Belmont University songwriting program. \nAvery has a passion for performing live\, breathing life into her songs wherever she goes. At the young age of 15\, Avery started playing notable venues in Atlanta and Nashville such as Eddie’s Attic and Hard Rock Cafe\, opening for acts including Communicant Band and playing festivals alongside artists such as Rayland Baxter. In fall 2022\, she released her third studio single “Til Death Do Us Part”\, which has been her biggest hit yet at 120k streams. As a songwriter her cuts include “Freight Train” by Corrina\, “Say” by Savannah\, and “Fool’s Gold” by Elaina Christiana. In 2025\, Avery released her fourth studio single\, “Sit in Silence”\, which will be the last record on her upcoming debut EP\, which she is working on now. \nCARSON MAC \nFrom the flatlands of Kansas to the hills of North Carolina—and now the bright lights of Nashville—Carson Mac has been winning over audiences for years. He began opening for major artists at just ten years old\, including Montgomery Gentry and The Gin Blossoms. \nCarson Mac has energized stages at iconic venues and festivals such as Bonnaroo (Manchester\, TN)\, The Listening Room\, and the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. \nHe just had a showcase at Whiskey Jam also will be on the Opry stage in June \n2026. Carson Mac’s days are filled collaborating with hit songwriters\, sharing his guitar talents in studio sessions\, recording his original music\, and touring.
