SUMMARY:"The Foreigner"\, a comedy by Larry Shue
DESCRIPTION:Renegade Theatre Company is excited to present “The Foreigner”\, a comedy by Larry Shue. \nMAKE A RESERVATION in advance at bit.ly/RTCtheforeigner \nVENUE « Virginia-Highland Church at 743 Virginia Ave NE\, Atlanta\nThere is free parking available across the street at Virginia Highland Elementary School. There is limited parking onsite at the church. Please plan to take public transportation\, a ride share or arrive early to find street parking. We will begin shows promptly\, so please plan ahead to be on time. \nPERFORMANCE DATES\n• Wednesday\, July 15th\, 2026 • 8PM\n• Thursday\, July 16th\, 2026 • 8PM\n• Friday\, July 17th\, 2026 • 8PM\n• Saturday\, July 18th\, 2026 • 2PM & 8PM \nCOST OF ADMISSION\nWe offer admission on a “pay what you can” basis. We suggest a donation of $20 for folks who are able. Donations can be processed in CASH at the door or online via GiveLively (links to Venmo\, PayPal\, Stripe and more). \nCAUSE WE’RE SUPPORTING\nAs with all of our productions\, a portion of proceeds will be donated to a cause we believe in. To further align our production with the themes of acceptance and community that are the underpinning of this show\, a portion of the proceeds from this run will be donated to New American Pathways. As a Georgia-based nonprofit\, their mission is to help refugees and newcomers from all over the world navigate the journey from arrival to citizenship. By supporting their work in refugee resettlement\, English literacy\, and career advancement\, we hope to honor the play’s message of finding a sense of belonging and ensuring that everyone\, regardless of where they come from\, has the opportunity to thrive in our local community. \nSYNOPSIS\nIn a remote fishing lodge in rural Georgia\, a pathologically shy man named Charlie seeks a quiet escape from the world. To save him from the strain of conversation\, his friend convinces the local residents that Charlie is a “foreigner” who understands no English. The plan backfires with hilarious results as the lodge’s colorful inhabitants—from a cynical heiress to a scheming preacher—begin to treat Charlie as a silent confidant\, confessing their deepest secrets and dark scandals right to his face. What follows is a high-stakes\, mile-a-minute farce where a man who just wanted to be invisible finds himself the only person capable of saving the day.\n“A comic masterpiece… Shue’s play is a tribute to the power of the human spirit to find a common language\, even when the words are all wrong.” — The New York Times \nCONTENT WARNING\nWhile The Foreigner is a celebrated comedy\, its plot centers on a conflict with a local group motivated by xenophobia and extremism. Our production is committed to exploring these themes with modern intentionality\, specifically focusing on the absurdity of hate while prioritizing the safety of our performers and audience. To ground the conflict in a more recognizable contemporary context\, we will be utilizing a “Proud Boys” aesthetic and physicality for many of the antagonists. In terms of staging\, we plan to use very limited traditional regalia\, supplementing the wardrobe with modern-inspired “inflammatory” costuming (ie: “Proud Boys” references). This approach allows us to clearly identify the threat and the play’s anti-bigotry message without unnecessarily overwhelming the space with historical trauma-based imagery. We are dedicated to maintaining an open dialogue throughout the rehearsal process to ensure a supportive environment for all artists involved. \nWHEELCHAIR ACCESS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE – Our wheelchair elevator is currently out of commission and being serviced. We’ll update this form as soon as it is up and running again. Please email info@renegadetheatreco.org for any questions about accessing the space.

SUMMARY:Seared
DESCRIPTION:With a savvy restaurant consultant and a waiter with dreams of his own added to the mix – everything starts to ignite in flames in this hilarious and insightful new play that explores what happens when art and money collide. \nAudiences will be up close to the action as the Woodstock Stage is transformed into the intimate kitchen of a New York City restaurant. SEARED is calling you into the kitchen to DISCOVER THE FIRE! \nHarry – a culinary genius with a flare for the dramatic – receives a positive review in a food magazine for his signature scallops and his business partner can see their restaurant finally making money. The catch – Harry refuses to ever make the scallops again. \nSEARED is a play that asks questions we are all deeply familiar with – what happens when the things that feel so intimately personal and our own become something that belongs to everyone? It’s also a play where we explore – intimately- the world of high-stakes cuisine\, and enter into the kitchen for a front-row look. We here at Woodstock Arts are so excited to create a fully functional kitchen onstage for this show and cook a meal for the audience to see\, hear\, and even smell! (We may not have enough portions for everyone to taste\, unfortunately).

SUMMARY:The Drowsy Chaperone
DESCRIPTION:Winner of five Tony Awards\, including Best Book and Best Original Score\, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical\, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.\nWith the houselights down\, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding\, a bumbling best man\, a desperate theatre producer\, a not-so-bright hostess\, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs\, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone\, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

SUMMARY:F*CK THIS\, I'M GOING TO CHURCH
DESCRIPTION:Virginia-Highland Church is proud to present an all new experimental theatre performance devised by local artists titled F*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH taking place at Virginia-Highland Church every weekend of March. \nMarch 06 – March 28\, 2026\nFridays at 8:00pm\nSaturdays at 3:00pm and 7:00pm \nF*CK THIS\, I’M GOING TO CHURCH is an immersive\, experimental theatre experience that reclaims the idea of church as loving community\, rejecting religious dogma that preaches shame\, judgment\, oppression\, and abuse. This walking path will involve stairs; comfortable shoes are encouraged. \nThe performance is 18+ due to mature themes\, explicit language\, and nudity. \nPerformances will run every Friday at 8:00pm and Saturday at 3:00pm and 7:00pm of March 2026 at Virginia-Highland Church UCC\, 743 Virginia Ave NE\, Atlanta\, GA 30306. SUMMARY:The Dynamic! - Funny scenes\, songs and games!
DESCRIPTION:The Dynamic! is an improv show that thrives on chaos\, quick thinking\, and whatever ideas the audience throws at the cast. Every scene\, game\, and musical moment is built in real time\, and the performers lean into the unexpected with a mix of confidence\, silliness\, and genuine surprise. They know how to turn a wild suggestion or a joke that goes off the rails into something even funnier\, and half the joy is watching them navigate the mess together. The show moves fast\, the energy stays high\, and no two nights ever feel the same. You help spark the fun\, and the cast runs with it to create a comedy experience that feels alive\, loose\, and completely in the moment.

SUMMARY:Branches Etched Across the Sky
DESCRIPTION:In a season shaped by stories that branch across generations\, identities and lived experience\, Branches Etched Across the Sky offers a deeply moving exploration of family\, illness\, loss and the fragile beauty of human resilience. Written by acclaimed Atlanta playwright and artist Addae Moon and directed by Marlon Andrew Burnley\, this production marks only the second staging of the work worldwide. \nBlending emotional intimacy with theatrical imagination\, the play moves between reality and memory\, tracing the ways families hold one another through uncertainty and change. As characters navigate grief\, care and the unknowable spaces between them\, imagination becomes not an escape from hardship\, but a way of enduring it. \nRichly human and visually evocative\, Branches Etched Across the Sky reflects the spirit of KSU Theatre and Performance Studies’ milestone season: stories that stretch outward\, intertwine unexpectedly and reveal the unseen connections that shape our lives.
